As the world of e-books and readers quickly evolves, design issues are being raised about the reading experience, including a key aspect of the experience—typography. Typography is fundamental to the simple aesthetic of reading.

We recently worked with the user experience team for a leading reader manufacturer to consider how to use typography to improve the reading experience for its customers.

To provide background for the complicated issues presented (and because we simply love typography),
we created some physical books, among them:

  1. Understanding Typography
  2. Understanding Digital Typography
  3. Font Specimen Book (a complete record of all fonts in the device)

With this background, the management team could include typographic improvements in the product roadmap.
